1. What is a Refund Credit Note (RCN) A Refund Credit Note (RCN) is guaranteed by the government under the ATOL scheme. Our ATOL number is 3853. It protects your money under the ATOL/ABTA scheme until its expiry on January 31st 2021.

2. What can I do with a RCN? The Refund Credit Note is a part / full payment towards rebooking alternative travel related products with Brightsun Travel UK Ltd till January 31st 2021. This is backed by the government as long as you have the original ATOL certificate that was issued to you with your original holiday/flights. If by 31st January 2021, you have not utilised your Refund Credit Note (RCN), or you use only part of the value of the RCN, the remaining amount will be refunded in the original form of payment, before the expiry date.

3. Is it not possible to refund to my original form of payment now? Due to Covid 19, many of our suppliers have had unprecedented amounts of refunds to process. As a result, to protect cash flow, and to enable correct sorting if refunds the Civil Aviation Authority has endorsed the use of RCN. Proving you with a RCN does not affect your right to a cash refund. Your full monies are protected till 31st Jan 2021. This allows us time for our suppliers to pass on refunds to us, which we can then refund to our customers.

4. How do I use my RCN When you book any travel arrangements with Brightsun Travel UK Ltd, for yourself or someone else, you can use part or all of the value of the RCN to pay for those travel arrangements. (If paying for someone else, you will have to sign a written declaration that you have used the RCN value in favour of the new nominated traveller(s). If you book travel arrangements that are of lower value, we will retain the remainder of the value of the RCN for later use. You may be able to change destination, and airline, and cabins. The value of the new holiday will also be protected under the ATOL scheme.

5. How can I get access to an RCN You simply contact customer.care@brightsun.co.in. They will send you an invoice stating the original travellers and itinerary, the full amount of monies paid, and the amount of the RCN. Incase part of the travel arrangements were used, the RCN value will be reduced to less the amount of travel arrangements used. Disclaimer: RCN’s are only available for cancelled bookings relating to Covid-19 and were booked by Brightsun Travel UK Ltd. The value of the RCN will be for protected monies you have paid for under the ATOL certificate. Any elements not mentioned in the ATOL certificate will not be eligible for any RCN value. Any value used will also will not be liable in the RCN value. The value of the RCN will exclude any administration and/or cancellation fees. The level of ABTA/ATOL protection only applies to the monies detailed on the Refund Credit Note itself. This protection does not cover any rebooking incentives.
