Passengers flying between London Heathrow and major Indian cities such as Mumbai and Bengaluru can look forward to retrofitted Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners and brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners with a modern three-cabin configuration, including Business Class with fully flat beds, Premium Economy - now being rolled out on more routes, and refreshed Economy Class seating. 

Customers can also enjoy redesigned interiors, upgraded in-flight entertainment, improved soft furnishings, and a great selection of meals and beverages.

Upcoming Route Enhancements & Expanded Capacity on Key Routes

Air India is updating its UK-India routes with enhanced aircraft and capacity. From 1st July 2026, Mumbai-London Heathrow flights will operate on a mix of Boeing 787-9 and upgraded B787-8 Dreamliners, replacing select services currently served by the B777-300ER. From 1st August 2026, Bengaluru-London Heathrow will exclusively operate B787-8 Dreamliners with upgraded cabins. 

High-demand routes are getting a boost with larger aircraft: Birmingham- Amritsar/Delhi and London Gatwick-Ahmedabad/Amritsar routes will see an introduction of the B777-300ER aircraft, increasing capacity and adding First Class cabins on select services.
