Malaysia Airlines Familiarisation Visit - A Tour of Malaysian Hospitality

Some of the Brightsun team were recently invited on an exciting familiarisation trip with Malaysia Airlines at London Heathrow Airport.

We had the opportunity to step aboard the Airbus A350 and experience firsthand the exceptional service and signature touches that define Malaysian Hospitality.

Our morning began at Terminal 4, where Malaysia Airlines operates its daily long-haul departures to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The flight was scheduled for 11:00am, and before the boarding gates opened, we were given exclusive access to explore the aircraft and tour the facilities on the ground.

Onboard the A350

We kicked off our tour in the Business Suite - a premium experience that truly impressed us. With just four suites in the cabin, it felt ultra-private and personal. Each suite offered a fully lie-flat bed with a privacy door, plush seating, an 83-inch pitch, and 23-inch width. This cabin is ideal for passengers who want the highest level of comfort and discretion, with Meet & Greet services and Platinum Lounge access included.

Next, we explored Business Class, which was spacious and sleek in design. The A350 features a mix of 1-2-1 and 1-2-2 configurations, with 90% of the seats offering direct aisle access. We tested the fully flat beds, admired the 16” touchscreen IFE, and got a feel for the premium amenities. It was clear that Business travellers are well looked after - everything from work surfaces to ambient lighting is designed for productivity and rest.

The Economy Cabin surprised us with how comfortable and generous it felt. With a 3-3-3 seat configuration, passengers benefit from 32” seat pitch and advanced ergonomic cushioning. We tried out the extra legroom seats, which come with a 36” pitch and are priced far more affordably than many competitors’ premium economy cabins.

New Routes & Double Daily UK Flights

We were excited to learn that Malaysia Airlines is expanding its global footprint, introducing exciting new routes across Asia, Australia, and Europe. 

Notably, Malaysia Airlines is the only carrier operating double daily, nonstop flights from London Heathrow (T4) to Kuala Lumpur, offering seamless onward connections across Southeast Asia and Oceania. Add-on services from UK regional airports like Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Manchester make it even more accessible.

During the tour, we also learned that Malaysia Airlines has been awarded Best Cabin Crew in Malaysia by the Global Brand Awards 2024, along with several accolades from the prestigious Cellars in the Sky Awards:

•     Silver for First Class Cellar
•     Bronze for First Class Sparkling

On the Ground: Lounge Tours 

After our onboard experience, we made our way to the Malaysia Airlines passenger lounge offering at T4, which includes both the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge and Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Lounge, available to eligible Business Class and oneworld Sapphire/Emerald customers. The Premium Lounge exuded calm sophistication, perfect for relaxing before a long-haul journey.
