Brightsun’s Worldwide Weekend Pocket Guides: Singapore
This month in our blog series, Brightsun staff member Ash recommends Singapore for a long weekend break and shares some holiday tips, pointers, and recommendations.
I highly regard Singapore as the best and my preferred holiday destination. I have been here more than 3 times, which speaks volumes.
When I visualise a textbook weekend getaway, I imagine adventure with a delightful mix of relaxation and exquisite food to rejuvenate my taste buds, and a short stay in Singapore promises all this plus more.
Singapore is an exciting country which ever so smoothly blends ancient traditions with modern innovation.
I started my adventure in Singapore at Gardens by the Bay, which in itself is a no brainer. During the day, we explored the Flower Dome here which portrays a scenic AI generated google image sensation. However, it’s through your eyes and it’s all real! Perfect for photography lovers as it is ever so picturesque. Though, the true beauty of this nature park is created in the evening, which left us speechless. We were utterly dazzled by the exact Supertrees we witnessed during the day that came to life by evening as they lit up in the signature light and sound show which went on for about an hour at the time of sunset, casting a magical glow over the gardens in turn offering a mesmerising and immersive experience.

After being completely stunned by this city, we had to satisfy and treat our bellies. We decided to head to Clark Quay via a 45-minute river cruise, showcasing the Singapore skyline which really comes to life at night-time. We dined at Zorba and were introduced to Chef Alek, who gave us a warm welcome and remarkable food recommendations. A view of the nightlife, beautiful restaurant, amazing service, and fresh sea bass - no one would ever want to miss the opportunity of visiting Zorba and Clark Quay. With the cooler temperatures and the river water cooling effect, this evening was impeccable.

On our second day in Singapore, we enjoyed an all-inclusive breakfast buffet at the Raffles Singapore hotel which we resided in. This 5-star property offers a blend of historic charm and modern comfort. We got dressed in our lightweight linen pants and shirts, the girls in their elegant sundresses, topped with sunglasses/hats according to preference and we were set for the day (with swim costumes packed in our backpacks!).
A trip to Singapore would be incomplete without visiting Sentosa Island. Whether you’re looking to unwind on immaculate beaches, enjoy family-friendly attractions, or experience the excitement of adventure parks, Sentosa has it all! We also enjoyed the S.E.A Aquarium and Universal Studios which left the kids with unforgettable memories.

The most ideal period to visit Singapore for a long weekend is between February - April, during which the weather is relatively dry making it perfect for the itinerary and outdoor activities mentioned above. However, Singapore's climate is often warm and humid throughout the year, making it a great opportunity to visit this dynamic city-state any time.
To conclude, I recommend Singapore for its ability to cater to every travellers’ interests. Whether you seek luxury or adventure, Singapore offers it all. The warmth of its people, the beauty of its landscapes, and the richness of its heritage make it a perfect destination for a memorable weekend getaway.
