The USA is looking to be a popular travel destination as holidaymakers plan ahead for their 2022 holidays. There’s no shortage of hotspots in this incredible country, from stylish cities to national parks, islands, and laid-back beach towns, and a number of US destinations are set to thrive next year.
New York, New York…
The Big Apple has always been a sought after travel hotspot, and this will be enhanced in 2022 with brand new attractions. City Climb – the city’s newest attraction opened in November 2021, set atop the 30 Hudson Yards skyscraper and home to the highest open-air building climb in the world.
Summit One Vanderbilt, another sought after attraction opened to the public in October 2021. It’s located inside the 1401ft One Vanderbilt skyscraper – the tallest building in Midtown Manhattan, and comprises four floors with a panoramic observation deck.
Broadway also recently reopened to the public after being closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and what’s more, next summer the world’s first permanent museum dedicated to Broadway will open at Times Square.
Orlando, Florida
There’s a lot tourists can look forward to on holidays to Orlando in 2022, especially at the city’s theme parks. The Universal’s Island of Adventure park recently launched Florida’s tallest and fastest launch rollercoaster: the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, and Walt Disney World will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022 which will be extra special for visitors with a new music show, Disney fireworks, and plenty more celebrations and events.
Travelling into Orlando International Airport will be a treat too, as the airport’s $2.7 billion renovations are set to be complete in early spring next year which includes the launch of Brightline – a new high-speed passenger rail service.
Take a Daytrip From Orlando to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
Located less than an hour from Orlando is the Kennedy Space Center, showcasing spacecraft and NASA memorabilia and home to IMAX theatres. In March 2022 the centre is opening its newest attraction: Gateway: The Deep Space Launch Complex which will offer even more immersive experiences and visionary effects; the complex will allow an insight into the future of space and you’ll be able to get up close to the spacecraft.
San Diego, California
San Diego, the famous beach city of California known for its year-round pleasant climate also has some fab newly opened destinations. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park opened in summer 2021; this brand new outdoor music venue will host the famous San Diego Symphony orchestra.
The Mingei International Museum at San Diego’s Balboa Park recently reopened after a large 3 year renovation and unveiled the brand new Artifact restaurant and café, which is operated by the Urban Kitchen Group and features a global menu and 30ft wooden bar.
Miami, Florida
Miami is always high on the list for an incredible US getaway, and it’s predicted that the city will see even more of a tourist boom in 2022 as it’s hosting the first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix on May 6th – May 8th, which will debut with a circuit race at the city’s famed Hard Rock Stadium. Miami will be absolutely buzzing next year, and that’s on top of its thriving art and culture scene and bustling beach hotspots!
Yellowstone National Park
The awe-inspiring 2.2mil acre Yellowstone National Park is one for all bucket lists, attracting more than 4 million visitors each and every year with its lush wilderness, wildlife, bird species, and geothermal wonders such as hot springs and geysers. 2022 is a major milestone for the park as it turns 150 years old, so if you visit next year, expect to witness special events and exhibits to celebrate the milestone.
Xanterra, part of the Yellowstone National Park Lodges cooperation will be hosting a public event to celebrate the park’s anniversary on May 6th 2022 which will coincide with the seasonal opening of the Old Faithful Inn lodge.
