All Aboard the Independence of the Seas

The Brightsun Travel team had the incredible opportunity to set sail aboard Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas on an exclusive fam trip - and what a day it was!

From the moment we stepped foot on board, we were captivated by the ship’s bright and bold interiors. The Royal Promenade instantly wowed us with its sparkling ceiling lights and iconic rainbow bridge, setting the stage for a lively and fun atmosphere. Lined with shops, cafés, bars, and entertainment venues, this bustling thoroughfare feels more like a floating town than a cruise ship.

We explored a range of accommodations - from cosy Interior Cabins to the stunning Royal Suite - each thoughtfully designed with guest comfort front and centre. Conveniences like Wi-Fi, room service, and generous storage are in every room. Ocean View Balcony Rooms offer a serene spot to relax with sea vistas, while Junior Suites provide extra space and seating areas. We watched thrill-seekers tackle the FlowRider® surf simulator, riding waves fuelled by over 113,000 litres of rushing water. Families were enjoying The Perfect Storm waterslides, while younger guests made a splash in Splashaway Bay, the colourful aqua park filled with slides, water cannons, waterfalls, and endless fun.

Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade offers games and activities for all ages. Plus, there’s virtual reality trampolining, sports courts, rock climbing and mini-golf! 

And if that wasn’t enough to keep you entertained, world-class Broadway-style shows like Grease and Hairspray light up the theatre - all included in your cruise fare. 

The Brightsun team were eager to taste the onboard cuisine - and it did not disappoint! At Windjammer Marketplace, a global buffet awaits, serving everything from curries and burgers to fresh salads and pastas.

One team member’s highlight was Fish & Ships, a poolside spot serving up classic British battered cod and hand-cut fries - a real treat!
