Thai Airways

Thai Airways International PCL’s rise from regional airline to a world-recognized company with global links is a tribute to the far-sighted vision of our founders. It is a fascinating saga of local initiative and strategic partnerships that enabled us to grow quickly, yet comprehensively in an ascent best compared to the flight path our aircraft on take-off.

On May 14, 1997, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited and four other world leading airlines, namely Lufthansa German Airlines, United Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines System, and Air Canada, officially announced the formation of "Star Alliance", an intergrated worlwide air transport network. On October 26, 1997, Varig Brazillian Airlines joined the Star Alliance network as its newest member. Partnership between the six carriers was significant of forming the strongest airline alliance in the history of commercial aviation with the most extensive network covering major destinations over six continents.

We are particularly proud of our inflight product, offering:

Economy Class
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Not all economy classes are created equal ! From its earliest days, when THAI was just a small regional carrier, the dynamic growth and unrivalled reputation of this airline has been inspired especially by one outstanding feature – the superior quality of its Economy Class, offering levels of space, comfort and service unmatched by other airlines. The welcome is always genuine, with extra personal touches which come naturally to our dedicated cabin staff, for whom friendly hospitality is much more than a duty.
Over the past two years, THAI has carried out a massive programme to expand and revitalize every aspect of its Economy Class experience, giving passengers even more reasons to make THAI their airline of first choice. New, wider seats of the latest design have been installed in many of THAI’s aircraft, with a new interactive Audio Visual On Demand (AVOD) system offering almost unlimited choice of entertainment and information options*.
Perhaps the most memorable features of THAI’s flights are the little extra touches which are so typically Thai, such as the traditional wai gesture from our crew to welcome passengers on board, the presentation of fresh orchid corsages to lady passengers**, or the hot and cold refreshing towels offered during each flight. In addition, Economy Class passengers can earn valuable miles, on both international and domestic flights, with Royal Orchid Plus, THAI’s award-winning frequent flyer programme.

Available on B777-200ER,A340-600and A340-500.
**To destinations where local quarantine restrictions allow.

THAI has taken advantage of the very latest technological advances in this field to install a state-of-the-art Audio Visual On Demand inflight entertainment system on its newest jetliners and retrofit the new system on many of its existing long-haul fleet*.

To assist passengers in making their selection among the hundreds of options available, THAI offers a comprehensive guide “Vision” on board. The choice is endless, the pleasure unlimited – just another example of THAI’s desire to make every flight more rewarding for everyone.
