DAY 1: Airport – Colombo (35 km = 1 hr)
Arrive in Sri Lanka. You will be met by a representative and transferred to Colombo. PM “Free for city tour in Colombo. Overnight stay in Colombo.
*Colombo:
Colombo is the commercial capital of Sri Lanka! Over 2 million people live in this vibrant city. While sometimes busy and hectic, visitors to this city can witness many of Colombo's treasures. The Fort area is the business center of the country and is home to the World Trade Center, as well as other modern buildings. A stroll along Galle Face Green allows a fantastic view of the Indian Ocean, and if timed right, a spectacular sunset. Cinnamon Gardens is home to many of the city's most luxurious homes. The Pettah area is a bazaar where one can watch people bargain for just about anything. There are several interesting museums and beautiful parks to view, as well as numerous noteworthy churches, temples and mosques. Tasty Sri Lankan food can be found throughout the city, with major hotels offering exquisite international cuisine. As in other areas of Sri Lanka, you will find the Sri Lankan people extremely friendly to tourists. Plan on spending at least a few days here to tour the city before or after exploring other areas of Sri Lanka.
DAY 2: Colombo – Negombo (35 km = 1 hr), Negombo – Anurapura (170 kms = 5 hrs)
After breakfast head off to Negombo. After breakfast leave to Anurapura & commence a sightseeing tour. Overnight stay in Anuradhapura.
DAY 3: Anurapura – Polonnaruwa (101 kms = 3 hrs) Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya (67 km = 2 hrs)
After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa & commence a sightseeing tour. Thereafter leave for Sigiriya. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.
*Sigiriya:
Climb the amazing rock of Sigiriya with its impregnable palace fortress built in the fifth century and enjoy the breathtaking views over the once magnificent royal pool, the throne, remains of the majestic palace, walk ways and garden. Sigiriya is a sixth century fortress perched on a 200 meter high rock and the most dramatic of Sri Lanka's historic sites.
DAY 4:
Climb Sigiriya rock fortress Overnight stay in Sigiriya.
DAY 5: Sigiriya – Dambulla (92 km = 2¾ hrs), Dambulla – Matale (47 km = 1½ hrs, Matale – Kandy (26 km = ½ hrs)
After breakfast leave for Dambulla. Thereafter leave for Kandy visiting a Spice Garden & a Batik Factory en route. Overnight stay in Kandy.
*Spice Gardens:
On your way Kandy in a suburban township called Matale, you will have the chance to visit spice plantations that grow a variety of spices such as cinnamon, pepper, and nutmeg, for which Sri Lanka was renowned and initially colonized by the Portuguese, Dutch and British.
DAY 6: Kandy – Pinnawala (48 km = 1½ hrs one way)
Visit to the elephant orphanage at Pinnawala. On the way back do a city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic & Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. In the evening view a cultural show featuring various dance types of Sri Lanka. Overnight stay in Kandy.
*Tooth Temple:
Located in Kandy, long a center of the Buddhist faith, the stunning 17th century Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) is believed to house the left upper canine tooth of the Lord Buddha himself. This precious relic attracts white clad pilgrims, bearing lotus blossoms and frangipani, every day.
DAY 7: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya en route to sightseeing and visit a Tea factory, Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
DAY 8: Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains & World’s End (29 km = ¾ hrs & Hike To World’s End And Back Usually Takes Around 3 hrs)
After breakfast excursion to Horton Plains. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
DAY 9: Nuwara Eliya – Tissa (192 km = 6 hrs)
After breakfast leave for Yala via Ella. in the late afternoon, Do a safari at Yala national park by Jeep. Overnight stay in Yala.
*Yala:
Situated 309 kms south of Colombo, Yala is approximately 1,259 sq. kms in extent and is located in the south eastern corner of the Island. Its northern boundaries border on the Lahugala elephant sanctuary and it has the added bonus of a scenic ocean frontage. The terrain is varied flat plains alternating with rocky out crops. The vegetation ranges from open parkland to dense jungle. Water holes, small lakes, lagoons and streams provide water for the animals and birds. The specialty here is the large numbers of elephants.
DAY 10:
After breakfast leave for Kataragama Thereafter leave for Galle & do a city tour including visit to Galle Dutch fort. Thereafter leave to Kalutara, Bentota Beach Hotel. Overnight stay in Kalutara, Bentota.
DAY 11:
Full day at leisure. Overnight stay in Kalutara, Bentota.
DAY 12:
After breakfast transfer to Negombo. In the afternoon do a city tour of Negombo. Overnight stay in Negombo.
DAY 13:
Leave for Departure Fight.
