DAY 1: Airport – Colombo (35 km = 1 hr)
Welcome on arrival & transfer to Colombo. Dinner & overnight in Colombo.
DAY 2: Colombo – Hikkaduwagalle (116 km = 3 ½ hrs)
After breakfast at 0630 hrs Colombo city tour. There after proceed to Galle. Enroute visit a turtle hatchery. Also take a stop at Hikkaduwa for a glass bottom boat ride (optional). Visit the Dutch Fort at Galle. Dinner & overnight in Galle.
*Colombo:
Colombo is the commercial capital of Sri Lanka! Over 2 million people live in this vibrant city. While sometimes busy and hectic, visitors to this city can witness many of Colombo's treasures. The Fort area is the business center of the country and is home to the World Trade Center, as well as other modern buildings. A stroll along Galle Face Green allows a fantastic view of the Indian Ocean, and if timed right, a spectacular sunset. Cinnamon Gardens is home to many of the city's most luxurious homes. The Pettah area is a bazaar where one can watch people bargain for just about anything. There are several interesting museums and beautiful parks to view, as well as numerous noteworthy churches, temples and mosques. Tasty Sri Lankan food can be found throughout the city, with major hotels offering exquisite international cuisine. As in other areas of Sri Lanka, you will find the Sri Lankan people extremely friendly to tourists. Plan on spending at least a few days here to tour the city before or after exploring other areas of Sri Lanka.
*Turtle Hatchery:
Watch and learn how the locals help conserve the sea Turtles by visiting a turtle hatchery and watch how 3 day old turtle are released in to the sea after they are born in protective custody of the hatcheries. This is a project undertaken by locals to protect the sea turtles from extinction.
*Galle:
Galle is a undoubtedly the most popular beach destination with many foreigners with its white sandy beaches and calm seas during the peak season that runs from November to March. While most use the beach to sun bathe or relax, the city also offers following sites and attractions which you may visit if time permits.
*Galle Fort:
Erected by the Dutch and refurbished by the Portuguese in the 16th Century.
DAY 3: Galle – Tissamaharama (148 km = 4 ½ hrs), Tissa Yala or Bundala One Way (43 km = 1 ½ hrs)
After breakfast leave for Tissamaharamaya, evening Safari to Bundala or Yala National Park. Dinner & overnight in Tissamaharama.
*Yala:
Situated 309 kms south of Colombo, Yala is approximately 1,259 sq. kms in extent and is located in the south eastern corner of the Island. Its northern boundaries border on the Lahugala elephant sanctuary and it has the added bonus of a scenic ocean frontage. The terrain is varied flat plains alternating with rocky out crops. The vegetation ranges from open parkland to dense jungle. Water holes, small lakes, lagoons and streams provide water for the animals and birds. The specialty here is the large numbers of elephants.
*Bundala:
This is the latest addition to the National Park and is situated 260 km. away from Colombo. All species of waterbirds resident in the country and the migrant birds inhabit this park. A few travel agents specialize in Nature Tours and these are advertised from time to time in the daily newspapers. Hotel reception desks and the TIC will also provide information. Jeep services are available at Wirawila and Tissamaharamaya for Yala and at Nuwara Eliya for Horton Plains.
DAY 4: Tissa – Nuwara Eliya (192 km = 6 hrs)
After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya – on the way sightseeing. Dinner & overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
DAY 5: Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains & World’s End (29 km = ¾ hrs & Hike To World’s End And Back Usually Takes Around 3 hrs), Nuwara Eliya – Kandy (77 km = 2 hrs)
After early breakfast proceed to Horton Plains & trek to Worlds Ends. On return proceed to Kandy. In the evening witness a cultural dance show. Dinner & overnight in Kandy.
*World's End a precipice with a 4000 feet drop at the southern boundry of Horton Plains national park. The hike to world's end is 4 kms (one way), and you will pass along the beautiful Baker's Falls named after Samuel Baker who attempted to establish an agricultural settlement at Nuwara Eliya. Start early to ensure your trek is worth the effort, as the mist that sets in around 10 am may block the views from World's End. On the way back, stop at Horton Plains the highest plateau in the country with an elevation of 7000 feet. The plain is home to indigenous fauna and flora and you may even be able to view the free roaming Sambar deer that is often seen around the many water holes on the plain.
* Cultural Show:
This is the famous Kandy cultural program. This is one of the famous destinations in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It starts in the evening and runs for more than 1 hr. The skills of the traditional musicians of Kandy, their drums and dance is very entertaining. There are different types of dances like the snake dance and then there is a fire show where the artists is eating and rubbing fire on their body. After the show the people visit the Temple of the Tooth of Buddha which is nearby.
DAY 6: Kandy – Peradeniya (6 km = ¼ hrs one way)
After breakfast do a city tour of Kandy including a visit to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens & the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Dinner & overnight in Kandy.
*Peradeniya:
Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya situated in the outskirts of Kandy. Established in 1816, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens spans over 147 acres. Flanked by the Mahaweli River, these gardens house all the usual features such as an orchid house, a spice garden etc. But what makes them special is the beautiful and serene layout, and the fine specimens of mature plants and trees which are also home to incredible colonies of flying foxes.
*Tooth Temple:
Located in Kandy, long a center of the Buddhist faith, the stunning 17th century
Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) is believed to house the left upper canine tooth of the Lord Buddha himself. This precious relic attracts white clad pilgrims, bearing lotus blossoms and frangipani, every day.
DAY 7: Kandy – Matale Dambulla– Sigiriya (92 km = 2 ¾ hrs)
After breakfast visit for Sigiriya. Enroute visit a spice garden at Matale & Dambulla cave Temple. Dinner & overnight in Sigiriya.
DAY 8: Sigiriya – Pinnawala (124 km = 4 hrs), Pinnawala – Negombo (75 km = 2 ¼ hrs),
After breakfast, climb the Sigiriya Rock & by noon proceed to Negombo. Enroute visit the Elephant orphanage at Pinnawela. Dinner & overnight in Negombo.
*Pinnawala:
This orphanage is probably the only one of it’s kind and provides shelter to many elephants of all ages, found either abandoned as infants by their herds, or those found wounded in the jungles. The morning and afternoon feeding hours are the best times to visit the orphanage, followed by their two hour long bath in the river across the road from the orphanage.
*Sigiriya:
Climb the amazing rock of Sigiriya with its impregnable palace fortress built in the fifth century and enjoy the breathtaking views over the once magnificent royal pool, the throne, remains of the majestic palace, walk ways and garden. Sigiriya is a sixth century fortress perched on a 200 meter high rock and the most dramatic of Sri Lanka's historic sites.
DAY 9:
Breakfast, Relax at the hotel. Dinner & overnight in Negombo.

Breakfast, Relax at the hotel. Dinner & overnight in Negombo.
DAY 11: Negombo – Airport (15 km = ¼ hrs)
Departure transfer to the airport.
