Business Class


The South African Airways Business Class seat features Full Flat-bed seat with a pitch of 73 inches, each seat has its own power supply for laptops. The power is 115 v AC, so only a 2-pin European-type plug is required, Individual reading lights with four settings, Individually adjustable lumbar support, Articulated armrest which flattens to widen the bed to 24 inches, Telephones at every seat. One can call the ground and there is a seat-to-seat call function, for calling other seats on board.

On Board Entertainment

Full Audio-Video-On-Demand, South African Airways offers to Business Class passengers on international flights access to either the Sony P@ssport system, or the Matsushita 3000 System. These are audio and video on demand systems and available at every seat. Passengers can select from a library of movies and audio programmes and also able to play, pause and continue programmes as you wish. All seats are fitted with user-friendly handsets that have been designed with intuitive controls making navigating entertainment menus easy. Entertainment Systems brings to life the best movies, TV shows, music and interactive games. All of which are available on flights lasting longer than three hours. Certain entertainment has route-specific titles and languages.


Economy Class Seat


Economy seating on South African Airways offers a standard 31 or 32 inch pitch on some aircraft and a generous 33, and in some cases, 34 inches on others. On A340-200s, seat pitch is 31-32 inches and entertainment is via overhead and main screen. The A340-300 and -600 aircraft offer a minimum 33-inch pitch with personal TVs. These have Audio-Video-On-Demand systems and telephones at every seat.
