Austrian Airlines is the international airlines of Austria. It operates scheduled services to over 130 destinations. Its main base is Vienna International Airport, with a hub at Innsbruck Airport. The sky of Central and Eastern Europe is dominated by Austrian Airlines. Austrian Airlines Group comprises of three partners: Austrian, Lauda Air and Austrian arrows.
Founded through the merger of Air Austria and Austrian Airways on September 30, 1957, Austrian Airlines went for it s first flight on March 18, 1958 when a Vickers Viscount 779 took off from Vienna for London. However, Austrian Airlines started its transatlantic services in the year 1969 when it flew to New York from Vienna.
Austrian Airlines serves together with their partners Lauda Air and Austrian arrows 130 destinations worldwide. Austrian Airlines has been in cooperation with Russian airline alliance AiRUnion since 19 February 2007.
On October 25, 1997, Austrian Airlines provided its first non-stop connection to Delhi. Austrian Airlines operated twice a week in the year 1997 using an airbus A310. This twice-weekly service has turned into daily flights with Delhi being served by a Boeing 777 in the winter. However, Mumbai got incorporated as the second Indian city in the Austrian schedule. Austrian airlines started operating five flights a week in September 2005. Around 26,000 passengers used the service to India in the first year itself and now Austrian Airlines carries over 200,000 passengers a year to India. |

Business Class Seat
The Business Class seats were designed to allow undisturbed communication with your neighbour – after all, a lot of new business ideas were born above the clouds. But the adjustable screen provides complete privacy if you prefer. One easy movement releases a stable, generously-sized table that serves as a work surface or restaurant table. Your footrest extends at the touch of a button, giving you almost 2 metres of personal legroom for the ultimate in relaxation. The handy storage compartment provides space for your laptop, book or reading glasses. Plug your laptop into the 110 volt power socket: you don't need an adaptor and you can use it throughout the entire flight. The touch of a button brings your seat into the desired position: upright, relaxed or reclining. Or use the fully adjustable controls to select your own personal setting.
In an effort to make longer medium-haul flights an even more comfortable travel experience, moreover, Austrian Airlines is converting four of its Airbus A320 aircraft on a staged basis until September 2008, equipping the Business Class zones of each aircraft with 24 exclusive Recaro business sleeper seats. The seats will provide a range of state-of-the-art features including 116 cm of legroom, a backrest set at a tilt offering the maximum level of comfort, electronically adjustable backrest and footrest and integrated massage function, ensuring the user experiences a relaxed flight.

Leading Austrian and international chefs design a diverse range of menus especially for Austrian – from exotic delicacies through to tasty Austrian treats. On long-haul flights, your own on-board chef refines the six-course menu. Afterwards you can complement your dessert with typical Austrian speciality coffees by choosing from the unique new selection of original Viennese coffee variations. Your personal 26 cm / 14 Inches LCD monitor allows you to watch the latest movie highlights, news and documentaries, find out about new developments at Austrian or gamble your way through the interactive Entertainment Lounge. The entertainment programme contains something to suit your every possible mood: up to 18 video channels show a diverse programme featuring a mix of the latest movies and cinematic classics through to movie premieres above the clouds. The audio programme offers the right for every possible musical taste, while a range of newspapers and magazines help you keep up-to-date with events down on the ground.

Economy Class Seat
With legroom of around 80 cm and seat width of some 44 cm, all passengers from Economy Class upwards will find it easy to get comfortable and watch their favourite film. If you get tired, lean your seat back to an angle of around 120 degrees and doze off before the others. To keep you in touch with the world down there even at a cruising altitude of 10,000 metres, our Economy Class cabins feature a satellite telephone on long-haul flights.
In Flight Meals
You can now look forward to enjoying the gastronomic delicacies of the world-famous Austrian cuisine as we pamper you on short-haul scheduled flights by conjuring up a range of real Austrian specialities for your inflight delectation. Depending on the day and time of your departure, you will have the chance to enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast or daytime dish. Austrian sets out to combine tradition with fresh new ideas, and you’ll be surprised by the delicious gourmet variations that resulted: internationally renowned Austrian top chef Helmut Österreicher, Austria’s first chef to be awarded four crowns, the national equivalent of Michelin stars, for his culinary expertise, has created all the dishes used in the short-haul Economy Class snack range exclusively for Austrian Airlines.
Service
For the smallest passengers Austrian Airlines puts together “baby kits” including babies’ bottles, baby food, a bib, nappies and other useful items for the flight. Austrian can also warm up any milk you’ve brought with you, of course. Just say the word to your flight attendant.
On Board Entertainment
To ensure you don’t get bored during your next long-haul flight, Austrian offers an extensive range of audio and video channels. Austrian Airbus A330 and one A340–300 (OE-LAL) aircraft are equipped with an interactive system to offer you interesting movies, music, games and several different means of communication. The other three A340 aircraft belong to the non-interactive fleet, and offer audio services or a smaller range of video channels. With 5 movies (always including one children’s film), 12 audio programmes and 10 computer games available, our interactive fleet transforms you into your very own director of programming. Our News&Views category provides you with a range of information or images from the air. Alternatively, you can choose to communicate from your seat by SMS, telephone or e-messaging. On the non-interactive fleet, you can enjoy 2 movies on the large screen or the monitor closest to your seat. On the routes to Japan, 3 films are shown, in addition to the standard selection of 12 audio programmes.
